Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few of the most popular questions we get asked.

How do I book a tour of the pre-school?

Please contact the pre School manager via the 'Contact us' form on our website.
Tours are usually booked Monday-Friday at 10am, 11am, 1.30pm or 2pm. We also hold bi-annual open days and will publish information about these on our website.

I want to sign my child up to the Pre-School-what do I need to do?

Please fill out a waiting list form to confirm your interest. The Pre-School Manager will contact you to confirm availability on sessions. The form is available to download from the top menu.

How many sessions does my child need to attend?

There are no rules regarding this, but we do find children benefit from doing a minimum of two sessions a week (for example, two mornings or a full day)

I know the Pre-School is a registered charity, but what does this actually mean?

The Pre school is a registered charity which means we are non profit organisation. All funds raised through fundraising goes straight back into the Pre-school, or resources, decoration, wear and tear of the building, garden improvements (we have BIG PLANS for our outdoor space).
We are governed by a board of trustees who are all volunteers. If you are interested in joining the board of trustees please let us know by getting in touch via 'Contact us' form.

What qualifications and training do your staff team have?

All staff are fully enhanced DBS checked prior to working at Windmill and complete the following mandatory training:
-12 hours paediatric 1st aid
- Safeguarding for all
- Food hygiene and safety
The majority of our staff are already qualified at level 3 (or above) and our level 2/unqualified staff members are all currently working towards their level 3 NVQ.

If my child comes to Windmill do they automatically get a place at Brookmead school?

No, whilst we are on the Brookmead School site, and have a great relationship with our neighbouring school, we are not connected to the School. You will still need to apply for a School place via the Buckinghamshire council online portal (This usually opens in the November, the year before your child is due to start school) We will prompt you to do this and you should also receive a letter in the post from Buckinghamshire council too.

What makes Windmill different to any other Pre-School (See below gallery)

At Windmill, we are proud to go above and beyond for every child in our care. We always go the extra mile to make sure every child is included, happy and thriving. We often arrange extra curricular activities and public events for the whole community which say's it all!
