I’m a married mum of two girls. Both my daughters are Windmill graduates and i couldn't think of a better Pre-School for them to have started their educational journey in!
I have lived all over the place as my dad was in the RAF, growing up in places like Norfolk and the Isle of Wight to name a few, before settling for good in Buckinghamshire back in 2002.
Career wise, I had a short spell in retail, but I knew I wanted to work with young children. I decided to take the leap into childcare in 2005. I started my career as a "trainee nursery nurse" working within a busy day nursery. I worked with all age groups, from babies aged 3months old- school aged children. However, I quickly realised that the Pre-School age group was my real passion.
Over the years, I have run very successful Pre-School rooms within Day nurseries whilst working my way up the ranks, from senior practitioner, to Deputy manager in my last post. I have been lucky enough to have a great career, working with lots of highly experienced Early years professionals.
I decided to temporarily adapt my career when I had my second daughter and became an Ofsted registered Childminder for a couple of years. This enabled me to keep up to date with my childcare responsibilities, whilst also being able to be at home with my young children in their early years.
When the manager job arose at Windmill, I just knew I had to apply. I have a real passion for our wonderful Pre-School and I look forward to our ongoing development.
I am also Senco trained, and I support Kairen (our in house Senco) with this role.
I am taking steps towards gaining an early years degree which I hope to pick back up and carry on with in the future when life is "less hectic" (if that is ever possible!)
I am very proud of our little Pre-School and happy to be part of and working with an incredible and enthusiastic staffing team. In my role as manager l aim to support every child, parent, carer and staff member to ensure their time at Windmill is valuable and thoroughly enjoyable.
I love working at windmill because....
"No two days are ever the same, the mix of children, staff and the vast range of activities complement each other so well.
I genuinely wake up each morning excited for what the day will bring. To been in a job you absolutely love is rare and I feel extremely lucky to do this everyday!
I have a small, strong team of staff who are always coming up with fresh exciting ideas and activities for the children to explore. I merely plant the seed with the topics and themes, then watch them flourish as the ladies work their magic!
Looking ahead to the future, I am excited for what is to come. Firstly, we have some amazing plans for our new building and I am very proud to lead the way!"
